This original acrylic painting was inspired by the peaceful feeling of watching boats drift gently across the water. I wanted to capture the brightness of the sails against the calm blue sea, and the beautiful reflections that dance beneath them.
The red, green and yellow boats bring warmth and energy to the piece, while the soft horizon keeps everything balanced and serene. I used both palette knife and brushes to create texture and movement, especially within the water, where light and colour blend together.
Living on the Isle of Wight, I am constantly inspired by the sea and the changing coastal light. This painting reflects that love of island life and my passion for bold, uplifting colour.
